My Story
I am a former football player, and for years I suffered from severe nighttime calf cramps with unbearable pain.
Today, I am elderly and I live alone. When one of these cramps struck in the middle of the night, the pain could be so intense that I would shout and even worry that my neighbors might hear me. At that moment, there was only one thought:
Make this pain stop as fast as possible.
People who suffer from severe nighttime calf cramps know exactly what I mean. I have seen other sufferers describe the same kind of experience — pain so intense that, when it strikes, you just desperately want it to end.
As a former football player, I knew very well how we dealt with calf cramps on the field. When a player went down with a cramp, another player would immediately help by moving and holding the foot in the direction needed to stretch the calf. The cramp could release quickly.

But at home, in bed, the situation is completely different.
On the field, another person is the helper — they can move and hold the foot in the direction needed. At home, especially in the middle of the night, that helper may not be there.
That was the problem I needed to solve: how could I make the same movement myself when I was alone? And even when an elderly couple lives together, the other person may not be physically able to perform that movement effectively.
There are many different suggestions for preventing nighttime calf cramps — magnesium, hydration, diet, supplements and other approaches. Everyone should do whatever works for them and, of course, follow the advice of their doctor.
But prevention and immediate relief are two different things.
When a severe calf cramp has already struck and the unbearable pain is there, you are no longer thinking about how to prevent the next one. You want to stop this one — as fast as possible.
That was the problem I wanted to solve.
After experimenting with different prototypes and testing them myself, The Night Cramp Solution was born.
It is intended for that exact moment when a painful calf cramp strikes and you need to act immediately, without depending on another person.
I now keep two of them within easy reach — one beside my bed and another in my living room when I am watching television. Having one nearby makes me feel more secure because I know that if a calf cramp strikes, I can reach it immediately.
The difference for me is not only what happens when a cramp strikes. I also go to sleep much calmer now, simply because I know The Night Cramp Solution is beside my bed and ready if I need it.
It is also designed to be easy to carry and take anywhere. At home, I keep it assembled and close by. When I travel or stay in a hotel, I can quickly disassemble it, put it back in its carry sack, and assemble it again when I arrive — so I still have that same feeling of knowing it is nearby.
In my own experience, the prototype has usually released my calf cramp within approximately 10–30 seconds. Individual experiences may differ.
This project grew out of a problem I personally needed to solve. Anyone who has experienced a severe nighttime calf cramp knows how unbearable the pain can be — and how desperately you want that pain gone as fast as possible.
My hope is that The Night Cramp Solution can eventually help many other people facing the same problem.
